Is there Anyway to increase the height of this tripod Plate on a Manfrotto 502hdv?

I tried hooking this up to my CPM filmtools Bulldog rig and it scratched up the base of the head pretty good. So I got one of Giottos base plate to heightened the rig. STILL, didn't work. Do you know any other solutions to heightened the rig? Thanks. I bought the head used to save about 50 dollars from the retail price on B&H, just don't wanna' wreck it any further. Any ideas appreciated.

Sorry for the double post, but I was thinking maybe a cheeseplate can fit underneath the Giottos? I got the Giottos so I wouldn't have to take apart the main tripod head and attach the other.
