Is there any point in using HD with DVD Studio pro?

I'm royally confused, please clear something up for me!

I'm trying to create a DVD Studio Pro Disc. I think I set it for HD and then SD and back again, which I realize now is a no-no. I went searching for info on the 'net and now I'm more confused:

Is there any point in using the HD setting in DVDSP, since the computer can't burn a HD disc in the first place?

Also, for anyone who's made the mistake of going from HD >> SD on a project, would that cause the disc to be un-mountable? It runs in simulation mode on my Mac and I can run it with the Mac's DVD player but it won't mount as a DVD on any Windows machine (it shows up as blank disc).

Thank you

I'll answer my own question, since I figured it out this morning and perhaps someone else can benefit from my struggle.

There's no point in encoding as HD. First of all the burners in the macs are not HD. Even if you format for HD you probably can't play it anywhere. Other than on my own mac, I couldn't get it to play on any Windows machines or even a standalone DVD player.

In DVDSP, the program opens (at least mine did) defaulting to the HD-DVD standard. If you change the setting in the process of a build the change does not take effect. This is one of those settings where you really Must set the encoding preference before you build. I had to do mine over--as SD DVD--and now it works fine.
