Hey,
Lately I've been looking at getting a small led light, initially as a camera top light, but also with future flexibility and have all but settled on the Litepanels Micropro. I've decided on this for a few reasons; colour consistency, decent output, small size/weight/heat and dimmable. I was tempted by a chinese knock off but I want to use it for pro-scenarios and want a good level of quality. I was also thinking of the Comer 1800 but it's too big.
You see I want to fit most of my gear in my one bag, a Domke F-3X. Currently I've got everything I need in it except my boom and blimp, as they're too big, but I've got everything else - 5dmk2, lens, zoom h4n, edirol r-44 audio recorder, wireless mics etc in there which is great. I want to be a one bag man!
That's why I think I'm going to go with the litepanels micropro because it's small enough to fit in one of the side pockets of the Domke.
I was thinking, however, about getting a reflector too as I don't currently have one (used to use tin foil heh). I've one pocket left in my bag, heh, and so was wondering if anyone knew of one that would collapse down to a small enough size. It may even need to be more rectangular than circular because of this!
Here's some googled pics of the back pocket of the Domke which is the space I have left - http://cambags.com/nikon/d1/shoulder/images/domke_f3x/domke_f3x_nikon_d2x_dsmith_2.jpg
The measurements are roughly 20-22cm by 10-12cm. It needs to be super thin as they're precious few mm's of give depth wise.
Not the largest space in the world! But I thought I'd see if anyone can suggest anything.
I've got a gorillapod for the 5dmk2 as well, I'm thinking it could also be useful for the litepanels, which would be great, and with the reflector I'd have a nice range of options for guerrilla lighting!
