Is there a Wide angle lense?

New to the DVX-100a. Great camera. Is there a wide angle lense that I can use with it? Really would like to shoot some wide angle shots.

While panasonic offers a .8X Wide angle converter (full zoom capability) , We at Century Optics offer a complete range of optical accessories, fisheye to tele. CAVision also offers some accessories, I think you can find some discussions if you look thru this site.

I looked online for that Panasonic .8x Wide angle converter, and can't find anything specifically for the DVX-100A. Is it a lense that happens to fit the DVX100a? Or is it specifically made for the camera.

I have tha Century .7 wide adapter for sale. It is gorgeous.

100% good as new.  Also, I have a custom sunshade that goes with it and the edges do not show even at full wide.  Try finding a sunshade for this camera that will work with this lens.  Yes, a few matte boxes work but they are an insane price.

Price for the package saves you plenty.

you should be able to find the panasonic .8X at any pansonic dealer but for example you can find it at

now of course I am partial to the Century .7X and that is quite deal on a used one with a shade that monster posted

monster you have mail. Do you know if you can fully zoom through this lense w/ no distortion or vignetting?

i believe barry mentioned that the .7 is zoom thru and no vignetting.

There's also the Red Eye wa lens.

Haven't used it myself, but it appears to be well regarded.

yeah, but i sent an email to rene regarding their redeye lenses and after weeks of no response i finally get an email from him...but w/ a blank message!?

try again. maybe he's not "online" much. additionally, I suppose its safe to say he is the *designer* and not so oriented in the sales/support arena.

yah, I suppose Bill Turner (above post ) would be partial..the biz card I have indicates he is VP. :)

Pooh,

I hope everyone (including you) sensed the tongue in cheek nature of my comment about being partial to the Century .7x as I clearly listed my company affiliation on the post. I also provided info on the competitors product without comment. In the past I have avoided participating in these forums because there is so much mis-information it seems hopeless at times. Having found this one, I decided to participate and see what happens.

Well taken--from the start. I have 3 of your company's lenses and adore them all. If anyone is partial- I suppose that would be me, also!

Bill, we're thrilled you're here. This board is quite different from most I've visited, and I think you'll find yourself quite appreciated by most of us here. We have a few manufacturer's reps who frequent here (like from Serious Magic, Panasonic, CineTactics, all sorts of companies) and we've enjoyed Ken Robings' presence here in the past as well.

I just purchased the Century .7X wide angle lens an it is great.
Does anybody know if the is a focus chart out there to convert distance from subject to a Manual Focus MF % number?
