Is there a "crop factor" with a 35mm adapter?

Hi guys,

Wondering if like with certain digital SLRs, there is a crop factor when you put a 35mm lens on an adapter for an HVX. In other words, does a 50mm lens give you the same angle of view on an HVX as it does on a 35mm film camera body? Thanks!

I was also wondering how you would calculate AOV with a 35mm adapter. Logically speaking, there must be a difference, as you're hitting two planes with the light.

Theoretically speaking, there is no crop factor because the ground glass is as large as or greater than the 35mm standard. In fact, it's possible to get a wider FOV. Practically, whether you get a full FOV or not will depend on the lens itself. Cheaper and wider lenses vignettes heavily, requiring you to zoom in further and cropping your image. I believe the way to see whether you're getting full Academy FOV is to tape a piece of 8 1/2 x 11 paper to the wall, stand about 3ft away with a 50mm lens and see whether the paper fills your field of vision.
