Is the Sennheiser K6/ME66 any good?

Hey guys,

I'm making a video featuring some classical musicians.

Flute
Violin
Guitar
Percussion Duet ( Snare Drum + Timpani )

All of them are soloists except for the Percussion duet.
What microphones do you recommend?
I'm a little worried cause my local Equipment Rental Place has very few options:

Sennheiser K6/ME66 Shotgun Microphone
Sony UWP-C1 and C2 UHF radio lapel mic kit

My guess is:
lapel mics for the percussion duet
lapel mics for the guitar solo

not sure about the violin and the flute though...
Will the Sennheiser ME66 be any good? it looks like it comes without the K6 powering module (not sure what difference that would make) using AA battery instead. Also it won't be mounted on the camera, but attached to a boom pole.

All microphones will feed into a Tascam DA-P1 DAT Recorder,

thanks in advance,

The ME66 is a decent low cost mic, but there are better shotgun mics. Why would you use a shotgun mic to record these instruments? Shotgun mics are designed to reject off axis sound so they can sound tubey sometimes when compared to normal cardiods. Shotgun mics are a compromise. Regular cardiod condensor mics would sound better if there is little back ground noise.

This thread should be under AUDIO. ;)

This is music you trying to capture, not dialogue. Bite the bullet on this one and hire someone who knows what they're doing. You can then see all that's involved and learn a thing or two in the process.

Where is the Audio Section? I would have posted this there if I known where it was...
