Is the foam gasket on Nisi 100x100mm IRND filters removable

The Nisi 100x100mm IRND filters have what looks like a foam gasket toward the edge of the filter; does anyone know if the gasket is glued on or if it can be removed, and if the filter can be used in a matte box?
