Is the Brevis flip out yet?

Is the Brevis flip out yet, or is there a production hold up at the moment? If not what is the scheduled release date for the flip system?

Hey Michael,

I purchased the Flip bundle but haven't received it yet. I'm using it with HVX200 and getting used to using prime lenses.

When did you order it? Also, does the flip bundle get you the Brevis, and then get the opportunity to buy the flip module once they're finished? Or does the cost ($1300) actually include the flip module?

I PM'd Dennis but got no reply (after sending e-mails to both the general e-mail at Cinevital and Dennis' personal e-mail listed on the site). Makes me wonder if these guys are really going to be there if things go bad.

The pre-flip bundle includes our 45cm rails system, Brevis-to rails mount, and a reservation to purchase our upcoming flip module!
Right on their site.

Dennis mentioned something about one or two more weeks on the flip in the Cinevate forums.

The last pieces of the flip puzzle are inbound as I write this...so we'll have an announcement by Wednesday or so :-)

We spent the last 15 hours shooting with a crew of approx 12 folks, with two HVX's, a ton of lighting equipment, the flip unit, and CF1Le + CF3Le. During the shoot we also took bare HVX, vs CF1Le, vs CF3Le footage. Prelim rushes look amazing, and we'll be posting footage as soon as the editing is done. I shot some footage with CF3Le on the HVX with a flip module attached...simply stunning :-)

Thanks William. As someone who's never purchased an adapter, all the pieces are a little confusing. It seemed weird to me that you would buy something just to have the right to buy something later. I wanted to make sure it wasn't miswritten, like, for instance, the e-mails that don't work on the site.

Cg, the package was put together so that folks interested in the flip could get going right away (non-flipped) with the Brevis system, and save a few $$'s getting set up with a full set of rails. The rails will be required later for use with the flip module. I did shoot yesterday's flip/CF3Le footage with no rails, just the HVX and the flip system mounted...but I wouldn't recommend shooting like that as a rule. The HVX continues to amaze me with its close focus abilities.

There are quite a few folks out there that actually don't want the flip as they use an external monitor for focus/framing and don't mind the flip in post. During yesterday's shoot, the non-flipped footage was shot using a Sony CRT production monitor which was just set up inverted.

Btw, our sales@cinevate.com email is certainly working, and Hubert, with 25 years of film experience, is dedicated to responding to messages via this channel, as well as our phone line. During the weekdays, response time ranges from immediate, to several hours.

Congratulation Dennis for upcoming release of flip module!

After I showed Brevis at InterBEE, everybody saw it was just amazed, most of them have used pro35 but they prefer using Brevis. I let some one rent one today and got a phone call from him saying he wants to continue using for another couple of days.
This is with an inexpensive LCD monitor flipped.

Did you see my post about the EX1 in your forum? EX1's focus wasn't close enough.

Hi, I felt exactly the same before I purchased the set. But the flip bundle was too good so I went for the flip bundle with the rail.

Now I wish I can afford the mattebox, but with my Pentax M42 lenses, I'm kinda getting away with using Cokin filters.

Kaku, the EX1 would require a spacer ring between the Brevis unit and the achromat. The flip unit will not require this. Thanks so much for showing your unit as you did :-)

On our marathon shoot on Saturday one thing became very clear using the Brevis with CF1Le, and CF3Le. Piotr was shooting with both, and in the tiny apartment, with questionable power, the light efficiency of CF1Le was something he was very happy with. In other words, what they were used to lighting for using a bare HVX, changed very little using the adapter, and flipped adapter. Every shot was set up with as many as 4 lights, and we were stretching the 15amp circuits to do it, even with total loss of the adapter/lens system being 3/4 of a stop.

Piotr will be editing over the holidays so we'll be debuting the piece very shortly. For now, we'll likely post up some frame grabs of CF1Le footage beside CF3Le.

My rental business on Brevis is so popular, I hardly have it at my hands.

Great, so I guess the flip unit will make the HPX compatible, too.

Now I seriously want to start selling Brevis in Japan, so I'm going to discuss somethings in emails.

Hi Kaku! So your using the Brevis, awesome. Im sure you can't wait to use the flip when it arrives... Looks to be a great product.

Well, I don't get to use is that often, it is always out for rental (lol).
As little time I played around with, it's been working great.
Also the extra ring between the achromat and the main body improved the focus with HPX555, but still can't zoom out all the way, so I'm hoping the flip will do the trick as Dennis mentioned.

So all adapters have their flip modules out (minus microX?). I smell yet another shootout. Who will rise to the occasion? :)

Great news. I only purchased the Brevis a few months ago and have had fantastic results with it. Didn't want to sell it to leap to the Letus flip, but really need the flip so I can work properly. Now it's due any day, there are bound to be some shootouts to see which one is best. And with Redrock and SGPro's on the horizon as well, it should be exciting times!

Can the flip be used on it's side. I have an A1 like in Dennis' pictures and I hate the idea of having to raise the camera that much.
