Hello,
A Wedding Videographer recently told me he sometimes works from 7 am till 2 am the next day on a long wedding day (a 19 hour day!!) . On top of this it takes usually 35 to 40 hours for the editing to get done (a reasonable estimate I think). And of course, there are a few other things that come with the territory, like meeting with clients and delivering the goods.
I have all the skills and equipment necessary to get started, but 50+ hours a week seems way more than I can handle, as I am also attending University. Is there any way I can do videography part-time? I've thought of just doing camera work and sending the footage to a production house for editing, but that may kill ALL my profits (and not just SOME). Besides, clients prefer a "one-stop-shop" these days, don't they?
Trouble is, I do need the part-time income. I am also considering switching to wedding photography because of the overtime factor. At least with photography there's no editing involved.
let me know what you guys think,
