Is Nattress enough or should I also use FCE's 2-way color corrector?

Just shot a 30 min short on a Panny GS400. We had OK lighting from 2 Briteks. I'm looking to lose the video look at get a nicer image, closer to the film look.

I've read about the Nattress filters from this site and I'm pretty sure I'll purchase them for converting to 24p. But I'm confused when I read about using these for color correction. I guess you can use the presets that come with Nattress to get not only 24p but also gamma and color changes that you're looking for?

So, should I just go that route and skip FCE's 2-way color correction filter? Or should I color correct with FCE first and then use G Film to get to 24p?

Is there a preferred method?

TIA.

I usually use FCP's 3 way color corrector to match up shots first.

Then if I'm going for a certain look I'll use something from Nattress applied to the whole film.

Any other comments on this? I'm done with my edit and now I want to work on the look of my movie. I see that there are presets in Nattress for certain looks. But is this the same as standard CC or is this something different?

If I find one of the preset filters that I like can I just go with that or is it always best to first use the 2-way CC in FCE?

thanks.

The looks are usually things that are either very hard to do with traditional colour correction tools, or not possible with the in-built tools. I tend to use Film Effects almost entirely for colour correcting my movies. The only thing I don't do is white balance changes, but I find the tools set superb for everything else.

If you're applying to the whole movie, I'd balance each shot by hand with the normal tools, or use G Levels from Set 1 also, to get everything looking pretty much the same, and then apply a preset over a nest of the whole movie.

If you're applying on a clip by clip basis, as is best, then order of plugins is important:

1) G Film for 24p. Must come first.
2) colour correction / white balance
3) "look" plugins, (make sure 24p mode in them, if available, is turned off)

You can re-order the plugins as they're applied to clips in FCP if need be.
