is my tripod dead

got a 503 head that is getting a bit messed up. There is about 1 inch left or right from any starting point where there is not fluid so in order to pan I have to start at the end of that point. Hopefully that makes sense anyone have any ideas on how to fix it by myself?

Make sure it's mounted securely to the tripod or bowl. Also, check to make sure your center column is locked if you have one.

Sounds like your lost some fluid. Do you see any leakage? If so, I would get it serviced asap or start looking for and upgrade.
