Is my "acting" Demo Reel effective?

Steel, I watched your demo, and it is decent. But, a couple of points, from my perspective and opinion:

1. The editing needs to be tighter, you have a lot of stuff that can be removed from the timeline. The shots of anything without you or does not set up the scene directly can be removed. An actor's reel should focus on the actor. The shots of buildings and anything that does not show your acting abilities, or if we cannot tell it is you, should be cut out, IMHO.

2. Length. 3 minutes is a bit long for an actor's reel. You need to hook 'em within the first minute. Remember, your reel may not be the only one they are watching.

3. Stat card can go at the back. Just your name up front would be good. Get right to the reel when they hit "play".

4. Did you shoot that on actual 8mm film? The flicker was a bit distracting for a reel. For a film, it might work, as the viewer becomes more accustomed to it.

But overall it looks decent. With a tighter edit, it could be even better.

I would remove the 2 small clips at 1:05 and 2:21. You are barely visible or audible in either clip and the hum is a killer. You have enough footage to give an impression of your presence and ability without throwing in every little bit, which in this case brings down the overall quality of the reel as a whole.

Just an idea (not a critique), but you may want to re-edit and try to find a rhythm and flow that builds to the end.
