Is Kit #5 right for my needs

I need to order some audio equipment right away.
Kit #5 in the sticky posts looks like my best bet.
First, heres the kit. Second my immediate needs.

The kit:
Okatava MK012 w/ Hyper Cardiod Cap ($180)
Rycote BBG ($100)
KteK KSSM Shockmount w/ soft bands ($100)
Gitzo 12' 7" carbon fiber boompole ($200)
Total cost: $580
My budget: $600

Immediate needs:
1) Indoor self-filming "how to" project. A do-it yourself type instructional dvd.
No staff, just me showing how to do certain specialty trade projects.

Future project (this summer):
2) Outdoor interviews - mostly away from city noise but wind will certainly be a potential.
Staff of one.

Is kit #5 okay?
Ideas and opinions appreciated.

the pole is $250 and the BBG is $140, so add another $90 to the cost.

How about a sennheiser evoloution wireless g2 100 system, then replcae the crappy me2 lav that comes with it with an audio technica 899c or senn mke2 ew gold

vidled, Oleg 2, saneproductions. . . .
The video was very helpful. . .so it looks like either an ear-worn mic or a lavalier to start with for project #1
The Sennheiser EW100ENGG2 Evolution Wireless is $599. - thus eating up my entire budget and still needing a good lav mic.

I might do the pain and go with the Sennheiser wireless.
Can you all name good ear-mic equipment so that I might see my options?

This is a little more money, and you need to get the one with the right connector for evoloution wireless www.morgansound.com call them! 866 860 8233 ask for susan morgan. And they are local (lynnwood, WA), so you can go there and look at your options (get the g2 there too!!) they will custom wire any mic you want for ew.

The sennheier system can be had for $500

You could also go with the at899c lav w/ 3.5mm locking jack for ew for about $220 if you can't afford the head worn mic. I think a wireless system will be great for your needs.

I would go for the lav as you can use it on your outdoor interview projects w/o making the talet look like brittany spears.

The Sennheiser EW100ENGG2 Evolution Wireless comes with a great mic, no need to buy another one. It's really the way to go.

You may be fine with the stock me2 mic, but it is not a great mic (not a completely worthless pos like an azden or a sampson, but it is not a professional sounding mic like an Sennhieser MKE2, Sanken Cos11 or Countryman B6 or B3 or EMW). This person may be happy with it, but I was not.

The stock mic that comes with the G2's is barely usable. If you are looking for a good low cost alternative that is very usable, go with the Countryman EMW. I think Countryman also makes a head-worn version of the EMW. Better option is the B3, but more expensive, and finally the B6 or the COS-11 from Sanken.

You can still go with a boom and Octava, but get a BoomMate and a C-stand with grip/gobo head - then you can just hang the boom (but can't move around too much.)

Okay. . .it looks like you all have me pointed in the right direction.
I'm getting a quote on the Sennheiser wireless with the at899c lav w/ 3.5mm locking jack from Morgan Sound in Lynwood, WA.

The ME2 might be a good mic for my needs. . .the audience will be mostly tradespeople - not cinema buffs. However, "the bitterness of poor quality persists long after the sweet taste of price is forgotten". Thus the at899c quote request (and they deduct $50. if the me2 is not taken).

Apparently Sennheiser has a hand-held mic that is compatible with this system which will allow me to expand in that direction for project #2 (we'll see).

ptalsky: thanks for the additional homework. I'll be looking into the Countryman and Sanken equipment suggestions later this evening.
