Is it worth the $$$ FCP training CD

You could also try the apple pro FCP books, Editing professional video and Advanced editing and finishing techniques for a bit less. It's lesson based, and once your through you could take the certification tests. If your looking to edit professionally, it's a nice piece for the resume.

I used a few of their vids just to learn how to log and capture and just that little bit got me over the hump...I think I may just give it a shot...the certification seems worthwile for me as I want to teach FCP 4.5 and now FCP 5 as a shop class at my High School

my thought on this was that I learn better with application traing rather than book knowledge. I am your typical ADD child..

These books are endorsed by apple,I use them and could'nt be happier.

I'm not a big fan of VTC, they're stuff just seems low budget and I find it hard to watch... and as a result hard to learn from. If you're looking for some really good FCP DVDs check out; http://www.rippletraining.com/engine/tutorials_on_cd_dvd.html

I've got three of their discs and LOVE them all!

p.s. These are the same guys that made the official Quick Tour video clips for the new Final Cut Suite on Apples site, so they are litterally the next best thing to Apple.

I ended up purchaseing Magnet Medias FCP Inside Editing. It was on Apples site for $99 but if you go to Magnets web site they have a NAB 05 special and I was able to get it for $84. without shipping. Amazon had it for $199. Ouch. My thought was I have DVD studio Pro 2 training DVD from them that was bundled with FCP when I got it and Iliked that so I stayed with them. https://www.digitalmediatraining.com

Yes, I have the Magnet Media and it's excellent. But actually my favorite DVD at the moment is Steve Martin's FCP Advanced Techniques DVD. It's fantastic. What's great about it is has tons of very useful tips for all levels of FCP user, and it shows how to do a technique from FCP to other programs like Cinema Tools, Compressor or Livetype or MS excel. Other training DVD's I have focus only on how to do stuff in FCP, but if you're an independent filmmaker like myself, and have to do everything including make dubs of footage onto DVD, then Steve Martin's DVD is worth the $90. Pricey, but worth it.

Hanguo laohu

Steve Martin's Advance DVD is totally worth it. I bought his FCP beginner training CD when he was still working with DVCreators.net, and his teaching style is just right. I also took a free FCP class with him at MacWorld(he taught more about Color Correction), and, in person, he is a greater teacher. Now if only Steve would put out a DVD teaching everything in FCStudio!! I'll buy it!!

I recently bought the DVDSP3 training DVD from MagnetMedia, and Zeth Willie is okay, but teaches at a really slow pace and seems kinda bored(but that's just my interpretation).

Does anyone know which is the best AE6 training DVD/CD out there is? Total Training's DVD set looks the best, but is awfully pricey(400 smackers-Good Lord!! Will they train me how to make my own Episode III on that set?! Sheesh!).

Ripple Training IMO is the BEST FCP DVD out in the market. I bought the advanced DVD when it came out well over a year ago, and still refer to Steve's DVD every now and then till' this day.

The Apple Pro Training Series books (both basic and advance for FCP) are the best on the market. They look big, but you get through them fast. They are hands on tutorials, not "book knowelege". And they will give you about the best mastery of FCP any tutorial can.

I swear by them. I've tried a lot of FCP tutorials, and nothing taught me more useful information and techniques then the Apple Pro Trainins Series. These books cut my editing time way more than anything else I've used. And I am a super "ADD Child", too.

Just my 2 cents...
