Does anyone have any experience with this?
I'm looking at an external large capacity hard disk (3-4 TB) with an USB 3.0 connection. It would be great if I could edit the movie clips (in Premiere CS6) directly from the hard disk without it slowing down...
At the moment I'm editing from my internal hard disk with no problems or hiccups whatsoever. My computer is not a monster, but powerful enough to cut smooth as butter through the native .mov files from my GH3. I get realtime playback, even with most effects applied.
Will this be the same with an USB 3.0 connected external harddisk at 7200 RPM? Is anyone here doing such a thing? Or an eSATA connection maybe?
I have no Thunderbolt on my computer so that is not an option.
