Is it possible to cut a feature length movie on SV 10? I can't get past 7 mins?

Has anyone successfully cut something longer that 7 minutes on sony vegas? Mine keeps crashing after I get footage that goes past this in my timeline. It displays an error saying "vegas has stopped working". Im on a dell laptop with i5, 2.33ghz, 4gb of ram trying to edit t2i footage converted to dxhd with mpegstreamclip.

You have a lot of variables there. I just threw about 2 hours of MXF footage onto V10 and there was no problem.

Also opened a feature-length V8 project with many cuts and FX and did not have a problem. I have not attempted anything that long from scratch in V10 yet, but I don't see why it should be an issue.

I think my longest project so far was about two hours, but as David said there are lots of variables. For example, Vegas won't open a certain one hour-long AVC/TS clip, but if I cut it with tsMuxer then Vegas opens the shorter parts. As for output, I had about 2 hours on the timeline, but my longest rendered output was I think about 40 minutes or so.

I used Vegas 8 before at it proved to be very unstable to me and buggy as hell. I upgraded to Vegas 10 and it is much better now.

For the record, I am running Vegas 10 64-bit on Windows 7 64-bit.

I realized my problem lied within using the avid codec. I just bought cineform neoscene and everything is running smoother than ever before. To test it I dropped 5 hours of t2i footage into the timeline and was able to play it at full quality.

Try boosting your ram. Get your video off the c: drive! Might also help. Laptops are less than perfect editing machines. But yes, cineform is good stuff. N
