ok, so i have been shooting 24P since i got my dvx, but it seems like the output quality isnt that great, im not sure what the problem is, i donno if ive got the right capture settings or im just not compressing it right.

here is my demo reel, i exported it as a .mov file with the H.264 setting at i think 1280x720 and im not too pleased with it.

here is what i set it to..

http://vimeo.com/1808739 - this is what i want it to look like (quality wise, i know hes using a 35mm adapter)

if you shot with a DVX, why are you exporting at an HD resolution?

Export at 640x480 for 4:3 or 854x480 for Anamorphic.

true, but look at some of the other stuff on my vimeo page, that is all exported at the right size and still doesnt look that great.

thanks for the tip btw!

You can play with adding a bit of sharpening either applied to the original sequence in FCP or as a filter when you compress the video for web. Like bigbossbmb mentioned, you are uprseing your SD footage which will make it more blurry.

Other than that, what are we comparing it to? "Doesn't look that great" is very subjective. Everyone will have different criteria; some would try to increase the sharpness, others would change contrast, saturation, etc.
