Is it just me....

Whenever I buy something off of EBAY (And Ive only done this a handful of times, never got scammed and I check their history carefully) and I don't get a SHIP confirmation or a tracking number by late the next day...I start to sweat bullets. I find myself checking the MY MESSAGES box in EBAY or my personal EMAIL account like 4 times an hour.

I'm an idiot.

ive bought a ton of stuff on there, and sometimes i forget i even bought something, never really think about getting scammed or anything. I do my best not to spend more than like 300 on one purchase though, just in case.

I've only ever bought two things. Cheapo close up adapters and a DVX.

No problem either time.

But I won't buy again. Too many scams now.

Wow! Bought your DVX there? Now YOU must have been sweating until you got a tracking number. Even then, I'd envision receiving a large box with nothing but shredded paper in it. Buying a high ticket item (DVX) is way scary. I bought one off of here and TOTALLY lucked out. After chatting with the seller on the phone, (who lives in NC, I live in NY) we wound up finding out that he is really good friends with my friend and her family who in live California (but are originally from Australia and spend 6 months a year there)...so MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR small world playing into my favor. I was able to Paypal him with confidence as soon as we got off the phone...

But sometimes, you still worry until you get that dang tracking number...

PS Im waiting for one right now...

I have purchased a lot of items off of eBay and have only had a few bad experiences (maybe two or three out of several hundred transactions). I even purchased my last commuter car off of eBay.

If it is something I need I look for a tracking number, but most stuff just gets here when it gets here. Last 2 weeks I have bought about 8 items (2 of which were sandbags I won today). I have been scammed twice, but that has just made me more carefull with the ones I do business with. My brother buys and sells cars and motorcycles on ebay all the time.

Cars and motorcycles? Thats just nuts! I cant imagine...unless its an UNBELIEVABLE deal....otherwise, how would you know how she drives?

PS Great sig there Cryogenic...

Ya ive only had 1 bad experience. I got the item, but it was the wrong size, sent it back to get the correct size and poof* never got another one. it was a 200$ jersey :(

Im still waiting for you Mr. Maurice Hopkins! That was like 3 years ago, we still know his name. lol

Never even thought about it. Ordered it, got it a few days later.

Never heard of "grey market" until afterward, when I found this site.

Then again, didn't expect it to need servicing during the first year. Things don't normally break until after the warranty period ends, anyway. Right?

Paypal confirmed buying and selling ONLY... then no worries.

If you're the buyer and you report the problem to Paypal then they will refund your money and leave the burden of proof on the seller. You are out of the equation and have your money back. ZERO WORRIES.

If you are the seller and the buyer claims they never received the item but you have a tracking number from UPS, FedEx, or USPS which states that you shipped an item to that CONFIRMED ADDRESS which SHOWS insurance for the stated sale price of the item. ZERO WORRIES... you are out of the equation and the buyer now must bear the burden of proof.

What's the moral of the story? No international buying or selling on ebay EXCEPT to KNOWN PARTIES OR INDIVIDUALS... and for all other transactions use paypal exclusively and to confirmed addresses only.

Finally... do NOT buy anything from any seller who has a feedback rating under 95% positive (no matter how high the actual number is).

It is the safest way to buy and sell on ebay.

The only time I've EVER had any problems with buying or selling is when I compromised these personal rules.

Follow the above and you will have no problems.

Thanks Matt. Thats a relief. I did not know that PayPal refunded funds.

I actually finally heard from the SELLER. They said PayPal was holding the money for 4 days. I contacted PayPal. Apparently, my Debit card had expired and as a default they used my checking account information which takes 3-4 days to clear. So, they were telling the truth.

Moral of the story? Theres two. Dont jump to conclusions and Don't shop on Ebay if you are a Lily Livered Coward.
