Is AFM worth the $ 3500 exhibit fee?

AFM is coming up fast.... we're thinking about exhibiting, which only means getting into their catalog of films for sale and schmoozing buyers until you're blue in the face..... (we can't afford to screen there...@ 10K, you has it?)

question:

Is AFM worth it? We've got comedy/drama, and I notice there are only about 21% of the films in the comedy category.....the rest all dramas and horror....etc.....

Looking for advice. I'd like a sale, but $ 3500 is alot of bucks to gamble. I know, "no guts, no glory" but still.... I'm very confident in our film, 3 festivals in L.A. and great reviews.....

but $ 3500???? ouch.

Any thought are greatly appreciated.

Hey Darryl,

AFM is an amazing venue and I have know more than one film that got at least part of their distribution deal there. I don't know that I would recommend taking a dvx film there on my own, I would want to have an agent in place already at a minimum as you will be competing with some pretty high budget films. Also, make certain that you have your E&O insurance and all other paperwork (sign offs from everyone!) in place first or you will run into a brick wall with a lot of distributors.

Best of luck with M.O.G.
