I am currently helping produce a feature that I will also be editing. I have an 8-core to handle the load, so no worries there. The director (understandably) wants to play with some of the footage as well. Will a standard macbook (not a MBpro) be of any use to him?
I searched through the forum and haven't been able to come up with anything definitive.
We have shot about 65% of the footage an an HVX and about 35% on RED. I will be working from a 3Ware Sidecar, but he will probably be working from a 1TB FW800 external that we are using to store footage.
I'm not sure how much editing he wants to do, I just want to be able to help him decide whether getting a regular macbook will do anything for him.
