Is a Camera More Than Its Resolution?

I just watched a review someone had of an 8k cheap camcorder. It got me thinking that all these quality cameras like the RED Raptor XL, are they more than their resolution for creating beautiful imagery?

Way more. It's the lighting, dynamic range, the compression, the color science, the workflows and most importantly, the USER.
Yes on everything, but it gets more complicated when you include the user in a comparative discussion of two cameras. It's relevant if you ask if a given camera is capable of making beautiful images, sure, but that's not part of the literal feature set and capabilities which is I think what Zachadoodle is asking about.

Not to mention sdi means the rest of the crew - director, make ip, script, art can see that their work is working
HDMI transmitter to a monitor with cross-conversion can that distro to other monitors, or just an HDMI to SDI converter out of the camera...there's no real barrier for a camera with HDMI out to be placed into an SDI worfklow.

Indeed not. Im just noting that as well as resolution, colour bit depth and whatever.. the physical attribues of the camer a from shape, mass ,portability and connectivity are critical too.

Ive never really worried about resolution!

Now that virtually all components have USB ports, it's like a hold-your-breath thing until you find out whether a given USB port can output 5V or if it is just rated for data. Makes powering an HDMI to SDI converter scandalously easy, since all the small ones are 5V nominal!
