Is 5D M2 not suitable for VFX intense film

Hi, I was contemplating on purchasing 5d for an indie film with visual effects, can someone please let me know if this camera is suitable for such requirement.

I heard that 5D records compressed footage which is not appropriate for VFX.

They used it for some helmet cam stuff in "Terminator Salvation", and that movie had effects in almost every shot...

Because from what I read, the compressed footage from 5D is not good / does not have sufficient info to manupulate during post / editing phase (is it the same for the 7d and T2i)

which camera in 3k to 10k range suits best for vfx?

Its not so much that its not suitable, it will just make your VFX artist hate you.
Does the 3-10k include lensees etc etc or just a body? Lots of options in that range.

Not so much that they will hate you as they will take a LOT more time and a LOT more of your money. I have had very good results with an HVX200 because of it's 4:2:2 color space. It keys well with keylight. Your best bet though is to rent a REDone. I wish we had done that on every VFX shot we did in Stricken. We did on a ton of them and WHAT A DIFFERENCE!

Thanks for the reply, sorry for the delay to respond.
Maximum 12K inclusive of everything related to the camera gear.
Thanks

I would have bought R1 had it not been for the Scarlet. How did you find HVX200 / HVX200A (any difference between these two).
How about EX3.

Well, I think it exists, its just not fully ready to be released. I saw Scarlet prototype in Las Vegas on Reduser day. That was a prototype, maybe, but I guess almost all Red enthusiasts are expecting it to be out in the market in a few months.
Its just that I dont want to spend more money vis-a-vis the features.

If you would have listed out why Scarlet is not good enough for VFX then I would have definitely considered purchasing R1.

Uh, you mean the Terminator Salvation WEB SERIES.

Not the movie.

And the third cut on my company showreel (below) is shot with an MKii and comped in. It was in a very small space, but didn't turn out too bad for what it was.
