James Cameron was smart enough not to go the route that is being discussed here.

Actually, he wasn't. Cameron's first film was called "Xenogenesis" and was made in 1978. It's a sci-fi thing that he convinced investors to give him $20k to make. This, of course, was shot on film and a lot more can be done now with a lot less. I wonder if anyone told him not to do sci-fi because films like Star Wars, Close Encounters and numerous others were flooding the market.

What does that have to do with anything? It was his first film, was made in a genre that was already saturated and obviously gave him a career. Your argument is that no one should make a low-budget zombie because there are so many out there now. By that logic, you should not make a movie that there is already a market for. Yeah, that makes perfect sense.

You're not much for reading comprehension, are you? Did he get it into theaters? Did he try to get distribution? Did he make any money off of it?

No.

It got him a job with Roger Corman. A glorified demo reel.

Hey, they earn money. Unlike zombie films made for $10,000. And I don't waste anyone's time in the process.

Terrific, you paid for it out of your own pocket or called in a favor. Doesn't count.

There's always potential money, the vast majority of that never turns into real money.

No, I'm not saying no one ever wins the lottery, I'm saying that 99.9999% of the time, it won't be you, especially if you don't educate yourself and learn the craft.

And only a small handful that people can even remember the title of. Sure, you may get a tick on the rental chart because nice cover art and an enticing blurb suckered someone in who simply didn't know better, but is that what you really want?

People sell crap every day, so just because someone wants to sell your particular brand of crap does not make it special or successful.

Absolutely true. However, if you ignore the advice that has been presented already by several fine and talented individuals, you do so only at your own peril.

all I can say really is .... lol Ok..

PS.. They asked me, I didn't ask them (the cineplex) so yeah, it DOES count.

Everyone has to start somewhere. Sounds like you would apparently rather they didn't even start.

Azmyth, please finish your zombie film so subtleInspiration can make a music video or infomercial out of it. Lets all help each other out!

lol.. yes, this is a forum where we are all supposed to be on the same team I thought. So that would be the right thing to do.

I don't know if my film would count, they aren't really "zombies" per say. But, its close enough that he'd probably drop the label on it. I guess George Romero should have just stayed at home and baked cookies or something.

Time for me to write my epic multi million dollar zombie flick.

I shall call it..

"Couch Potato"

I like that. How many eyes with the zombies have?

I can literally just put a camera in front of a couch, film people watching TV for 90 minutes, and call it a zombie flick.

I don't even need a $1 budget to do that. Genius!

Or put a camera in front of a couch and film someone thinking about making a movie but never getting up to do it. Those are the TRUE zombies.

I think the real problem here is that guys, like subtleinspiration, who work in the industrial field think those who want to do narrative work are wasting their time. That may very well be the case in a majority of situations but it's still their decision to make.http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/member.php?u=26978

Ironically, subtleinspiration is my subtle inspiration to prove naysayers like him wrong.

if it's strait to dvd b movie material, it needs to have sex, lesbian, pot, movie, vampires, zombies or transformers in the title, like lesbian couch potato vampire killer zombie movie

You could film it in my living room then.

You wouldn't believe the stains I have in my couch...
