Often when I add an effect to a clip, even simple ones such as matte, and get a light or dark green line above the clip (which I am to understand means it should preview with no problem) playback will freeze on the beginning frame of the affected clip as the playhead and audio continue, until the beginning of the next clip. This is totally unnerving and frustrating.
I have a dual 1.8 GHz Powermac, so this cannot be the issue. I change the playback settings to medium and low, safe/unlimited, without much effect. I even change the energy saver setting in system preferences to high.
What the hell can be the problem???
