Irreversible

I watched Irreversible the other day, and I was very shocked with the film. The film is ok, but those weird camera angles were getting on my nerves.

If he was trying to be artistic, then he didn't succeed at all. I quite liked the way he told the story. Sort of like Memento.

Has anyone watched this movie? What did you think of it?

All the best

Fidel.

Re: Irreversible

I agree with you. I was getting sick when they were in the club. The movie is ok. The colors were awesome though.

Re: Irreversible

That was one of the most intense movies I ever saw, right up there with "audition".

I read online that in the first few scenes they actuall play a sound in the background that is designed to induce queasiness.

Re: Irreversible

I think I read that this was the most walked out movie of the year (whatever year it came out) due to that sound effect playing in the club....

Re: Irreversible

Whoaw are we talking aboutn Monica Bellucci here? Malena anyone? I should put her in my avitar. Anyway have yet to see the film but if you are a fan of Monica's performance you should check Malena that was also intense (from a different perspective but... intense very heh). Love that girl.

Re: Irreversible

Dont know if that was the most brutal rape scene ever in cinema, but it sure was up there. I'll admit that there was a part of me that wanted to get turned on by it being a scripted rape scene, but it was just too violent, too real.
I could'nt tell that they even used cgi until I watched the DVD extras. Maybe because I was so dizzy from the camera work.

Re: Irreversible

Agree too, that scene in the bar name something like the "Rectum" make me nervous, image & sound, without to mention that rape scene so rude that my girlfriend turn his head away. A good movie at the end.

Re: Irreversible

When he bashes the face of the guy with the fire extinguisher.....that was really damn cool....

Re: Irreversible

You are sick TilerGred!!! How can you find that cool? Easy man!! You are joking right?

It was very well made, though.

That was the most shocking part of the film. The rape was the longest that I ever saw in a movie.

The camera didn't move. One position only. That looked so real man!

As for Malena, yes I have seen the film and I liked it.

And let's not forget the Matrix reloaded, she stars in that one too.

I haven't watched Matrix revolutions yet, so don't know if she starts in it too.

All the best

Fidel.

Re: Irreversible

Something nobody metioned as well is that all the dialouge was improvised. Noe just gave them treatments and suggestions and let them go.

As for the movie? Kinda like I Stand Alone he just seems to go over the top for the sake of going over the top. I own them both and admire alot about Noe but I'm undecided about both as well. Great camera & audio work in Irreversible, without doubt, but what the movie has to say, if anything? I Stand Alone works better for me from that point of view.

Also, I found Funny Games much more intense, and difficult to watch.
