iRiver WARNING!!

I have an iRiver iHP-120. By mistake, I plugged it into in the WRONG ADAPTER to power it. I have a camcorder adapter that looks very similiar to the one that comes with the iRiver. I connected the unit to my computer and it was okay ( so it seemed.) After disconnecting it, I could not power it up again. I think I blew the unit.

I was not able to power up the unit and thus lost my files recorded on it.

The unit was a backup to a backup, so it is okay--could have been very bad.

The unit apparently does not have idiot-fuses..

Be careful and label your AC adapters.

I am in contact with iRiver about replacement/repair.

This is a sweet device, but be careful.

Like anything new, be sure to use it, play with it, thoroughly test it, and know it before you do anything important with it for work.

Re: iRiver WARNING!!

You can get a Brother label maker really cheap and it'll be good for a lot more then just your "bricks".

I've got a Brother unit that I use for a lot of stuff, but on my adapters I actually used permanent paint marker.

Re: iRiver WARNING!!

Wow. There should be a fuse in there, but you do have to be careful that you don't give something too much voltage or too much amperage. The power supply will say what it outputs, and your iRiver should tell you what kind of power it needs.
