I had an iris question. I'm using Vegas 6 and I wanted to know if there is anyway to hold the iris when you are using the closing Iris effect. For example in silent films when the iris begins to close but stops just around the character's face for a reaction then closes. Could Vegas 6 do this?

You mean an iris with blades? It'll be a lot of work, but it could be done.

If you mean something simpler like a circle, then what you'd do is use a Cookie Cutter. Choose a circle, cut away all but section, feather the border a little bit, and then keyframe the size in the effects editor timeline.

I was using 'Transition Properties', 'shape circle', 'iris in'. I can get the cirle to close in, but I would like the circle to hold around a face for a couple of seconds then close. They use it in "Boogie Nights" when Scotty first sees Dirk.
