Hey,

I might be going to Ireland in August. I've never been there before and was wondering if it was a great place to film? Weather?

If I buy DV tapes in Ireland will they still work in my DVX?
 
The weather should be pretty nice in August (high 60's-70's), but always be prepared for the rain.

I've been planning a trip to Ireland for years (literallly) and I will definitely take my DVX when I go. Although I've never been, I have watched dozens of travel videos and read lots of books on it. It is (to my eye anyway) one of the most picturesque places in the world. Not just the lush emerald countryside that it is famous for, but the ancient ruins, the abbeys, the geological wonders like the cliffs of Moher. The architecture is beautiful, from the georgian townhomes in Dublin, to the thatched roofs of farmhouses dotting the Dingle peninsula. You would also have a tough time finding a warmer, friendlier people.

And don't even get me started on the libations.

If you don't bring the camera....I think you will wish you had.

Thanks a bunch. I've never really thought about actually going to Ireland before this trip just kind of came out of nowhere. But the more I think about it the more I can't wait.

What about tapes? I haven't heard of any region lock on DV tapes, but I figured I'd ask just to be sure.
 
I can't answer that. Maybe someone else can. My knee-jerk reaction is that it shouldn't be a problem.
 
I live in Ireland.. What area do you plan on coming to?

The weather in august will be ok. Probably about 20 - 22c. It's pretty rainy here though so don't count on sun every day. Scenic places to shoot would be killarney.. My city is pretty scenic if you are into castles and what not. Everyone is pretty friendly here so you should have a good time.

Oh and tapes, I don't see any reason why the dv tapes here wouldn't work. I mean, DV is DV right?
 
Did 5 weeks in this beautiful country some years ago (july + august) (bicycle trip)
We had a lot of rain but great trip and very nice people.

Burren really impressed me. Never seen a place like this before.

Don't miss the puck fair in Killorglin. Incredible.
 
I'm not sure what part I'll be in. The Youth Center I did a promo for is taking some people down, and they offered for me to go, which means free room and board when I get there.

I just fond out last night and haven't had time to get the details yet. The more I think about it, the more excited I get.
