iPhone screen in trouble - what else is new

I love the Iphone, but I just don't ever buy first generation stuff. and that really
goes for most companies , you just hear more about it with Apple because they
sell to a huge audience

If Microsoft pulled crap like this they would go out of business in a second. Smor10

Hahahahahaha this is the funniest joke i read during the last decade!
Microsoft is ONLY PULLING CRAP since the beginning. But people LOVE CRAP as iPhones and Windows sales confirm.

Shocking. Something that hasn't been done before isn't working 100% of the time. Just because a ton of people bought them doesn't make them any less susceptible to early adopter issues.

The comparison to MS, however, is just funny. I'd elaborate, but don't want to get this thread locked down.

Yeah... gotta' agree with these two guys. My experience with Microsoft has had equal parts joy and pull-my-arm-off-in-a-cotten-gin disappointment... and you know how disappointing THAT can be.

I think I know where you are going with this. I am trying to resist temptation as well. Its just....it's just...okay I'll say it...

One is a software company the other is hardware...the only true comparisons between the two companies is Gates and Jobs. Period. Apple makes apple computers. Microsoft does not. Why does everyone keep linking these two entities together?

I don't think Maddox is getting an Iphone, always an enjoyable read.

oh man I laughed so hard my jaw almost fell off. I'm posting this on my tech blog * with a HUGE disclaimer about the mildly offensive language that is * as soon as I'm done shooting my short this weekend.

and just to get this thread killed:

My comparison with Microsoft is just. If a product Microsoft put out - like a keyboard, a mouse, a Zune or any other of the myriad of hardware products they produce - started breaking down en masse two months after purchase and Microsoft demanded money from it's customers to fix it the legal world including Steve Jobs would have a field day mounting law suits and class action suits against them (and don't come dragging this Windows crashes all the time rubbish again. Why do you think Leopard has been delayed for more than 8 months now? It's not because it's fool proof, that's for sure. And if you give me a Mac I can wipe it in 10 seconds flat - your data will be lost forever. You can't do that with Windows, Linux or any other OS without physically attacking the hardware). When Jobs pulls **** like this very few people question it. Except Europeans who have seen through the bull, realize that Mr. Jobs is running an evil monopoly, doesn't give a rats ass about his customers and is exploiting them for things that should be provided free of charge like factory replacements etc, and have citizens wise enough to understand when they are being exploited.

For some light reading on Mr. Jobbs' business strategies and just how much of a nice guy he really is read the excellent article published in The New Yorker called "Steve Jobs in a Box"

I'm not a Mac hater - I just don't like religious dogmatic uncritical devotion to anything, whether it be religion, politics or a piece of plastic.

Yeah, I can see that.

This doesn't appear to be a widespread issue, as you've implied, and Apple has been proactively seeking out faulty units and replacing them.

Fun as it may be to speculate, there's no evil conspiracy going on here.

Jeezo. Calm down. It's a freakin' cell phone. Yeah, I love my Mac. Didn't make me wanna go shell out 600 bucks on a cell phone, though. And I'm sure Steve is both brilliant and a bastard and an aging hippie. But Apple is fixing the screens. Which is more than I can say for any cell phone I've ever had that turned out to be a total POS.
