iphone question

My 2nd generation iphone has been annoying lately and I think instead of getting it diagnosed and all that I will just upgrade to the iphone 4 if I can. Can I buy an iphone 4 and keep my same plan for the same list price as the phone? I heard somewhere that the iphone is only priced so low because you have to get a plan with it.

If you currently have a plan for the 3G iPhone (which is what I assume you mean by second generation), you can either keep your current data plan or elect one of the new plans for the iPhone 4--if you go with one of the iPhone 4 data plans, however, you cannot at a later date go back to your 3G data plan. In either event, your voice plan will stay the same unless you take steps to change it.

Anecdotally, I can tell you that my 3G has been much slower since "upgrading" to OS4. Everyone I've talked to have said pretty much the same things...
  • Letters hang when typing in email or web
  • Apps hang up or launch very slowly
  • Some apps simply time out or close on their own

I've had the same experience with iOS 4 and 4.01 on the iPhone 4. There seem to be some bugs to work out with the new OS.
