Iphone as audio recording device??

Can anyone tell me what the quality of the mic in is on the iPhone.

Surely it can't support 24bit stereo...

Just picked up a ZoomH1 which I think is far superior to this solution.

From what I remember the iphone can do 16/44.1 at best, and the tiny fraction of the budget that apple is spending on the audio input hardware wouldn't buy you a battery for your H1.

Agreed, it's a "phone" and i don't think you'll be impressed with the results. Stick to the H1.

I wanted to buy the Mikey 2 for my iPhone 3G and then pair it with the new Rode Videomic Pro, but was told the Mikey didn't have the right kind of input, even though the Rode is boosted.

I'm planning on getting an H1 like you...

Just an FYI.. look at Guitar Center.. Tascam DR07 for $49 bucks... not sure how long the sale will last but I just got 2 for grins.
