iPad Tripod - Kickstarter

I just backed it last night! I'm really hoping it passes-- I've been searching for about a year for something that would let me easily use my tablet as a teleprompter, without being a shoot-through type (which I also recently found a good solution for). And it does work for a lot of Android tablets, too-- that's what I have.

Cool.

Now they just need some of that Veronica Mars support :)

I had to do a Google search to know what you were talking about, but that's awesome! Now if that would just happen for Stargate, I'd be happy! lol.

Gillvane,

This is Aaron from the group producing the ArchMount (http://kck.st/WC5izH). Yours is an EXCELLENT idea! It seems the same gizmo might also act as a microphone wind-screen, if we design it right.

Mind if we call it the Gill Vane?

Ha! I've said that by mistake several times, Barry. It's hard to say "iPad tripod mount" fast. It can come out "iPod tripad mount," which doesn't make sense at all.

Not too late to call it the ArchMount TriPad. For other versions, we can call it something else. ArchMount CurvASUS?

Aaron

ZazaCast -- yes there are a LOT of iPad mounts. I think the mount you pointed out is for a different market.

The mount you pointed out gives an impressive amount of stuff for the price (ah the wonders of Chinese manufacturing) but is made of metal and is bulky.

Our ArchMount is unique in that it is extremely portable (pocketable in fact) with a very small form factor. It only weighs 3.5 oz, and that's with the optional metal bracket. It is for somebody wanting to minimize clutter, weight, and maximize portability, while maintaining a secure hold.

I am a little concerned, also, that a photographer/videographer would consider the grasp of the mount you pointed out to be sufficient in the field. It seems that it would be easy to knock the iPad out of its grasp from behind.

[This response is due to some interest on this forum in the ArchMount -- available for funding on Kickstarter for 3 more days: http://kck.st/WC5izH]

Haha! Seems obvious from looking at the video with the guy in the sunlight squinting at the Ipad. Something lightweight should easily attach to the mount to block the sun for better viewing in daylight.
