Ipad as external monitor and/or to view recorded movies from Canon 7D-5D?

Is anyone using an iPad on location either as an external monitor or to preview already recorded movies? I would guess for the latter that the Apple Camera connection kit is necessary, and I assume you could view still images on the iPad, not so sure about HD movies without jailbreaking and using 3rd party software.
Anyone?

There is no hardware video input of any kind to iPad (or iPodTouch or iPhone, or iWhatever)

Apparently it IS possible by jailbreaking, not sure if it is WITHOUT JB first.
