I'm new to the business/market side of video production. Last night I was a second shooter at a wedding, and at the end of the night the lead shooter requested I send her an invoice. I've been reading all morning and have found a lot of confusing information, I was hoping someone here could point me in the right direction. I'm not sure whether to bill her or her company name, since she does business under both. I don't know her address and I feel weird asking in case it isn't needed. I also don't want to come across as a noob by asking her for any unnecessary information.
We also didn't do any sort of contracts. A big concern I have is that she (photographer) was controlling how I shot, which meant shooting handheld on her 100mm+ lens at 60fps during the ceremony, no body/lens stabilization, some angles requiring me to balance on a stool. She rejected any requests I had regarding the use of stabilization (tripod, ronin, monopod, etc) because they were "clunky" (even though she wheeled a duffel bag of gear in and left it on the floor taking up more space than a tripod would have. I'm worried that she will be unhappy with the result and refuse to pay me even though I warned her, and since there was no contact I feel like I may be screwed. Sorry for the partial rant!
I obviously need a big lesson on doing business and taxes, but for now I just need to take care of this invoice
I have QuickBooks since I used to do pool service, would that be a decent tool in the videography world?
