Invisibility Cloaking Effect?

What's the best way to create this cloaking effect in AE?

I'm thinking the electricity can be done with paths and the saber plugin after tweaking it, but what about the invisibility effect? I've seen some random tutorials on YouTube but none quite as smooth and clean is this one.

Any ideas on the best way to do this effect?

Looks like they painted a clean plate, roto'd the character, used it as a displacement map (CC glass could work) with hand-painted patches and lightning and faded the character on top of that bit by bit. Looks technically very basic to get a similar effect, but that's very artistically accomplished. And with a fair amount of roto.

Thanks guys yea I used CC Glass and tweaked it to get the effect and the same techniques as Aram just posted in the link above.
