A few years ago, all the chatter was about 24P, now it seems all the chatter is about 60P. Is 24P still relevant?

Almost everything narrative is shot in 24p or 24 FPS film, and most likely will be for decades to come, if not forever. (Or 25p in PAL territories, which is nearly identical.) Both are brushes in the jar, suitable for different things. Both 24p and 60p have different artistic purposes. We discuss exactly this in the program.

So yes, 24p is very, very relevant and will contine to be as long as people make moving pictures.

Isn't the interest in 60p only related to slo-mo, or is there another reason to want it?

If you notice, in the banner above, "29.97" is in quotes, and there's a reason for that. One of the most confusing thing about frame rates is that two totally different frame rates are both called "29.97" -- interlaced video (60i), and 30p. This trips up sooooooo many people, we spend a good 20-25 minutes explaining exactly what's what, why interlaced video and 30p are definitely NOT the same, even though they're both called "29.97," and which is which when it comes time to CHOOSE your frame rate -- they're definitely NOT interchangeable!
