Using a laptop as a monitor has been much discussed on the threads but I've not found the exact answer to this particular question.

Documentary interview with firewire out to laptop for viewing only - still recording on P2.

What Mac PowerBook program can I use to view image coming from HVX?

Am I missing some major component to this idea?

Thanks,
Cole.

I am putting a package together.

I am going to use super-cheap lcds to play the image. I want it clean and simple.

The image on the glass only has to be 'acceptable'. It can be small, or black and white, etc.

There are a lot of options. I am using an old sony video walkman as one of my sources..

Appreciate the options - I'd still like to use my PowerBook.

Can anyone tell me what process or Mac PowerBook program can I use to view image coming from HVX?

Thanks again for the feedback,
Cole.

Have to say while you can use the capture window, its only a preview window and not the greatest.

Run through the FCP forum theres a few older posts regarding something like DVrack for mac. Cant remember the product name of the top of my head.

DV Rack or you can download any free 'webcam' app.. I had some freeware webcam app that put video straight from the firewire fullscreen in full dv res. Worked a treat although i can't remember the name.
