Internal Harddrive question

It's pretty standard. Looks fine to me. 7200rpm is what you should be looking for, and what most all drives are these days.

Here are some performance benchmarks of that drive and other power-saving drives:

It's one of the lowest performers (compared with the new batch of green drives), but also consumes the least amount power. What you should buy depends on your data throughput needs (is this just for storage or do you expect realtime HD playback, etc.) and your budget.

many ppl stay away from seagate brand due to poor reliability. I never liked seagate back when windows 95 or 98 existed, it crashed on me twice. even today, ppl choose other brand besides seagate.

I would put my money on WD any day.

Back in the day Seagate did have a pretty bad rep. Nowadays though I think they are the leading HDD brand. Maxtor is a bucket of crap, and WD isn't far behind, I use nothing but Seagate drives in every server and storage array I build, failure rate is extremely low.

These are not crappy inexpensive drives though. Usually the good drives cost 20-30$ more than the cheapest ones you can find, and they are also usually worth it, what with the failure rate being very low. I honestly can't remember the last time I actually had a Seagate HDD fail on me, been using and recommending just them for at least the last 7 years.
