intermediate lighting kit to get?

I'm looking to get some lighting for filming music vids. A lot of it will be against a green screen for keying. I'm not a beginner as I've worked in stills photography for many years and surprisingly the skills seem to be transferrable :)

However, I'm not an expert, so I'm in the market for some good value intermediate lighting - I'm assuming it has to be daylight temperature etc, but not sure what power I need.

So , two questions:

Can anyone suggest a top list of necessary items ... eg. softbox... diffuser.. ?

Can anyone recommend any good value links where I can buy an intermediate lighting kit.

well, I'm speaking generally, but a few softboxes to light the green screen would be great, since it give nice even light on a big area (fluo's for that matter too), and also make sure you can place your actors/band members a bit futher from the green screen, and then have lights lighting your subject seperatly from the green screen, it should help kill any spill.

Arri makes good lights, and Cool Lights seem to be popular. Check out photoflex for continious light sofboxes and speedrings.

It really doesn't make sense to buy a "kit" as it will almost never have all that will fit your particular needs and there's items that you won't ever use. For daylight balance you're looking at strictly fluorescent or HMI fixtures, and HMI are VERY expensive. It really doesn't matter what color temp it is as long as all your lights matches so you can WB, but for green screen work I would say fluorescent light are the best bang for the buck. They're high output for very little power drawn and the light is already soft so the screen will be very evenly lit. I have a few Cool Lights flourescent and loves them. You'll also want some hard lights to use as backlight or key, so you're probably looking at tungsten fresnels. Arri and Moles are the industry standard and they're great but Cool Lights also have a fresnel line although I have had no experience with these.
