Interlaced

I just converted a documentary I shot using the Quicktime Conversion in FCP. The problem is it that it came out interlaced. I was wondering if one of you pros could tell me how to correct this. I know it's a simple problem, but I can't figure it out. Any suggestions?

Field dominance must be set to "none" in the FCP sequence.

Then you choose it in your export window.

You don't tell us what format you're exporting to...

I changed the field dominance to none and rendered all the video. When I played it on the canvas, it was all interlaced, worse than before.

Could it be something with the pulldown. As of now my system settings are: RT- Safe, Video Quality- High, and the pull-down pattern is 2:3:2:3. I filmed using 24p and my editing timeline is 29.97, can this cause the problem and if so what should i use?

Also, I'm exporting it to .mov so I can burn it to a DVD.

I'm not an NTSC guy, so pulldown isn't my thing, but you shouldn't re-render none progressive video after setting the field dominance to none...

What are you monitoring on?

I'm just using the canvas screen on my laptop. A mac powerbook G4.

So you're saying to change the field dominance to none and try to export it using quicktime conversion? and this should fix the problem?

Get info on your clip, check that it has the right format and that field dominance is "none".

Gdet info on your sequence, set field dominance to "none" check that it is 30 (or rather the 29.xxx) format.

Are you going for dvd?

Export using compressor, or export a quicktime movie.
DO NOT PUSH THE "Make selfcontained" button.

Export.

Either:

1. Open DVD studio pro, add the reference file to your assets, ctrl click and set apropriate compression settings

or (better)

2. Open Compressor, add the reference file and set your apropriate settings.
Export mpeg2 and dolby audio

Drag resulting files into DVDSP

Make DVD
