Interlaced FX!?

Hi, I'm using the PAL DVX so all my footage is at 25P.

Any clue why when I speed clips up in FCP the shot becomes jagged - “interlaced” style?

Is it a setting I’ve missed?

And now I’ve edited most of my film is there any way of getting rid of it without having to do it all again?

- I’m sorry to post another interlaced question, but its been very hard to separate the PAL info from the NTSC info during my searches on this subject….

Thanks, you the men.

Quick question: When you say its becoming "jagged - interlaced", where are you viewing that? Is that what you see on your computer monitor or on a broadcast monitor? If its on your computer monitor, don't panic, your computer monitor is a terrible QC device. Get a broadcast monitor and then try to QC from there.

If it is on the broadcast monitor, then perhaps you'll want to use an third party application to help you with the speed changes. Twixtor and Retimer being the ones I've heard of from around here (use Twixtor sometimes, works decent, never tried ReTimer). FCP isn't really well known for its ability to do speed changes really cleanly. Either way, you can only get so clean a result anyway as you're trying to invent footage that never existed in the first place. Good luck.

cheers.
