Interlace artifacts in 24PA?

Hi all,

Hope someone can help me here:

For some strange reason I'm getting strange artifacting in my 24PA footage that looks like an interlacing artifact when editing in FCP.
Here's what it looks like (these are portions of a frame grab out of FCP):

3 out of the 4 frames look fine, like this:

But then 1 out of every 4 frames looks like it has interlacing artifacts, like this:

I'm shooting F6, 24PA, squeeze mode, and capturing via Firewire in FCP.

My capture presets are:
NTSC DV(3:2), 720x480
Anamorphic 16:9 (checked)
Digitizing via Firewire NTSC

Remove Advanced Pulldown and/or Duplicate Frames During Capture From FireWire Sources (checked)

Sequence Settings:
NTSC DV(3:2), 720x480
Anamorphic 16:9 (checked)
Editing Timebase: 23.98
Using the TARGA Cine YUV Compressor settings at 23.976 fps

This doesn't make sense--it seems like FCP isn't doing the advanced pulldown. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Todd

Ahh I see HD....Did you just duplicate the already created remove pulldown preset and edit that....?

Re: Interlace artifacts in 24PA?

Yes the capture/sequence presets were duplicated, then edited.

Strange huh?

Re: Interlace artifacts in 24PA?

Absolutely sure, it's the default F6 setting, which was verified during recording.

I wonder if maybe it's because of the codec? I'll test it soon.

Fixed my problem, and as suspected the codec was set to 24fps instead of 23.976...whoops!

Thanks for your help Kyle.

Bingo that would do it.... Messing around always seems to solve problems...
