Being a learner in sound, i'm wondering which would give better results for an interior interview... senni 416 or a ECM-77 Lav?
Im aware that the 416 is better suited outdoors so i'm thinking the Lav... perhaps doubled up for safety.
Tom what do you mean doubled up? The lav is usually used clipped on one person, if you can't get a boomed hypercardioid for a 2 person indoor interview, use the 416. Hopefully in a large room to avoid reflections.
Cheers.
416 can handle more interiors than a lot of shotguns, but if you have a medium-to-small room with a lot of bare walls (i.e. a lot of sound reflection surfaces) then it won't sound great.
Get the mic close, use the lav (a ton of interviews use both lav and boom anyway), and you'll likely be good.
Sorry, i just meant using two lav's when i said doubling up.... as safety instead of a boom and lav.
So if i cant get in close enough with the boom and the room is small and bare... the lav will be a good bet...?
