Reading an article on a web page, i found the interesting information that SAG is the union for film actors.
and AFTRA is the union for videotaped actors. Since film is dying with KODAK and all goes digital (video), there is
something to be done by SAG to stay, since already many producer turned to digital instead film, just because AFTRA
seems more interesting for them than SAG.

Actually, it was more SAG was for big screen, and AFTRA was for little screen. But those lines got blurred too. The big screen people started using digital, and TV would occasionally use film.

Either way, I think SAG and AFTRA will eventually merge, but there is a lot of resistance to it on the SAG side. AFTRA dues are much lower than SAG, the requirements for eligibility are less in AFTRA.
