Interesting Craigslist Ad

Sounds fine to me. The guy's a pro, knows what he can offer and what he can expect. Could have been a little bit more diplomatic.

the "small guys" can be upset about him coming on on their business, but their business is NEW , affordable digital video is still new, hes been in the business for a long time with the big toys, and he has a right to feel the same way about the small guys stealing his business. Hes just taking the business back. right on

Apparently, the difference between "Pro" cams and "Hobby cams is $1,000. The HD110 is around $6k, right? And if you are a "Pro", you won't get your hands dirty editing?

I think that the guy has a right to show off what he can do, I am just not sure its appropriate to go on a rant when you are trying to advertise your services. I would saved that for a message board.

don't know too many pros who feel the need to solicit work on craigslist and rant about their responses

Seemed like a legitimate gripe to me, I guess. Didn't really bother me.

Lost me with the last line though. It was a bit childish. Besides, I know a certain someone who was nominated for an emmy for the first commercial he shot with the original dvx100...

iraq in fragments won best cinematography at sundance and was nominated for an oscar. i'm not sure what "big boys" he is referring to, but in the world of cinema it doesn't get much bigger than that.

A real pro wouldn't have to lower his rates to get business in a new area. If he was a real shaker, his old clients would fly him back in just to have his eye on their projects- and his reputation would precede him in the new area anyway. He's a poser. And it sounds like he's a real joy to work with.
