Interesting Commentary on HD-DVD vs. BD

From a site which I'd wager a number of us frequent:

I found this bit astonishing:

Still, with ALL of the major Hollywood studios save Universal already committed to supporting Blu-ray, and with ONLY Universal, Paramount, Warner, HBO and New Line in the HD-DVD camp, HD-DVD is going to have a very tough row to hoe.

"Only"? WB owns the MGM library, so which major players are out of HD-DVD? Sony (duh), Disney, Fox. How long will Disney and Fox stay out if HD-DVD performs?

And Sony will, once again, be on the outside looking in when it comes to a new consumer format. This is definitely going to be an interesting little battle to watch.

I think he means that Paramount, Warner, HBO and New Line are supporting both HD-DVD and Blu Ray.

I thought that Blu Ray was not compatible with current DVD's, but I guess they're making players that are compatible. It's funny that Pioneer's Blu Ray player will cost $1800, while Sony's PS3, which includes a Blu Ray player, will only be $500. Why not just buy the PS3 for 1/3 the price and get a free gaming console!

That's what he means, but he makes it sound like HD-DVD is twisting in the wind, when most studios support it.
