Interesting article

I ran across while trying to settle a bet with a friend.
I told him that Panavision had once made a VIDEO camera and he laughed at me. I knew I was right because I had read something about it before.
Anyway - Here's the interesting article that I found.
Not only does it mention the "Panacam" as Panavision called their tube video camera, what I found really interesting was the last paragraph....

That last paragraph says it nicely doesn't it? I always say; it's the fact that in 15 years WE (That's you and I) will be capable of making a Hollywood Quality Motion Picture in our own homes with the capability of marketing and distroing it oursleves. The future is so bright I gotta wear shades. Hollywood oughta embrace it because indie filmmaking is going to explode like never before.

I'd say sooner.

But again, the technology (as exciting as it is) is only the tool. A compelling story, well acted with good craftsmanship in lighting, sound, direction and editing are what matter most.
