My DVX100 had 202 hours on the head counter. Having never experienced any dropouts, I felt no reason to get it professionally cleaned. Eventually (at the 202 hour mark) I started experiencing *considerable* dropouts, and so I decided it was time.
When I got the camera back from Panasonic, I did a quick test, and all was well - no dropouts whatsoever. A colleague of mine decided to rent out my camera for a few days to take on a shoot. After the few days, I got the camera back and decided to check how much use he put on it.
Then to my surprise, the head counter was reading three hours of use. T H R E E.
A fantastic deal on my end, effectively making my camera new again, if I decide to sell it for any reason - but is this normal? It of course is my camera, same serial number. But I thought that the head counter wasn't able to reset - or at least Panasonic wouldn't want to reset it. Like the mileage on a car, no?
I re-state: is this normal? Has anybody else had this happen to them?
