Intercutting DOF w/stock video

I'm wondering if anyone has done a lot of intercutting of adapter footage with standard video footage shot from the same cam (same settings as DOF kit'd cam, except for exposure of course). What tools do you use to lessen the obvious transition - and I'm not talking about faking the DOF in the stock vid footage.

When I compare the adapter footage to non adapter footage, the video of the latter is just too perfect and crisp compared to the former. I'd appreciate some suggestions about where to begin and would be happy to put up some footage for public evaluation.

Go see any movie with backgrounds. Shallow DOF on the closeups and mediums, deeper focus on the master, VERY deep focus on the establishing.

Basic film language.

thanks for the reply. I guess I did not explain what I'm seeing well enough. The GG of the adapter softens the image just enough that the stock footage appears too crisp when intercut, like it needs a bit of grain added. Just looking for some FX suggestions to help continue the adapter look.

Ahhhh...

You'd need to indicate your NLE so someone could point you in the right direction. Different programs have different ways to accomplish this.

what adapter are you using? i intercut lots of footage of hpx170 + sgblade with hpx500. Colors and their activity differs as GG makes the image less contasty (which i like), as for the sharpness, you can always put a tiny amount of blur on non adapter footage...

I'm using Kadir's Handy35 with a Canon HF10. http://vimeo.com/8516289 is a link to a short example of what I'm talking about. Probably won't be HD until next week, but you should still be able to get an idea of the problem. This is a trailer spoof of some footage I shot for my niece's wedding last week (no audio in this clip).

If you would like to see the entire clip in HD right now (password protected), PM me an I'll send you the link and password...
