These lights are really cool, they are the equivelant of a 150W hot light like a pepper.

55 or 160 degree beam angle vs. 14-42 degrees (Arri 150w) or 4.5-48 degrees (dedo 150w), far less control using barn doors vs. barn doors that work...

This seems like a completely different tool and hardly a replacement?

After staring at the web page for awhile, I can't quite figure out why they are comparing it to a 150 watt fresnel. It seems to be a moderately small 15watt battery powered LED light that would be mostly useful for on camera fill. It doesn't seem powerful enough or have enough spotting ability for creating background effects.

That’s funny. I was thinking this thing looks VERY similar to a Litepanels Sola ENG, which is what I use for a top-light for ENG. But the Sola is a fresnel. Second but, the mini is also a fraction of the price of a Sola ENG. You could buy a three light kit(at tegular price) for about the same price as a single Sola.

The output equivalent and characteristics are similar to a 150W pepper or dedo, but it's not intended to be a replica with an LED. While it doesn't share the same focus range, it is a single source COB LED that can be shaped very well. That alone is unique in the LED world. It can also be powered via a Sony NPF battery, or AC, and it can be mounted on-camera or on light stand. The focus range may not be the same, but all of the other aspects make the light very versatile, especially for the price.'

If it was bi/variable color(just white light, not RGB) I’d try one out for the price to replace my Sola’s, because they’re daylight only and I have to Velcro hard Gels to the front to work indoors. I’m to the point now, that I don’t want to buy any LED fixture that is not at least bi/variable color and can go from 3200k to 5600k and anywhere in-between.

I hear you and that’s a general concern of mine with most LED lights but the great thing about these is they are a single bulb so they cut really sharp like a hot light. And they are so inexpensive. You can power one of these for almost 4hrs on one NP970 at full brightness.

I talked to Aaron about building a kit and we do have the option to mix and match daylight and tungsten heads. So I would get two of each most likely.

Good news! As of today this is 110% funded and is a go! Grab a a Light Cannon Mini or a kit in the next 17 days at price we are unlikely to see again. Remember you can mix and match daylight and tungsten heads in any kit. Congrats to everyone that’s already in.

Paul I know you're not an employee but do you get a cut of the group buy sales, or benefit from Intellytech selling more units?

Hey Rob, I do not get a cut of any profits but like most people that run group buys for the products they represent I do get a kit. During the LC-160 group buy I purchased one unit and got a second one from Aaron for helping out. I have been a customer of theirs since around when they began the business. I’ve always enjoyed chatting with Aaron and really respect the way they handle their costomers and back up their products. And they sell some really good equipment at amazing prices.

Thanks Paul, good to know. Yes agreed, Aaron has always been excellent and a really nice guy.
